Could Winks have just given Tottenham advantage over Arsenal in £30m race?

The future of Harry Winks looks completely up in the air, but one thing is for sure – he will be leaving Tottenham. Leicester are the latest of a number of clubs to be linked, and it might help Spurs in a pursuit of their own.

Winks, 26, has fallen down the pecking order. The signing of Rodrigo Bentancur has seen the England midfielder warm the bench of late, and Spurs are likely to make more signings in midfield this summer.

One of those could be Youri Tielemans. The Belgian is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract and Spurs are keen – but so are North London rivals Arsenal, in signing the midfield playmaker.

Normally worth a lot more, his contractual situation means Leicester are willing to do business for just £30million (TalkSPORT). That has attracted Tottenham and Arsenal, and Spurs might just have the upper hand.

COULD WINKS HAND TOTTENHAM ADVANTAGE OVER ARSENAL IN TIELEMANS RACE?

Both clubs need a player like Tielemans. Arsenal simply lack numbers while Spurs do not have that creativity they would get in Tielemans. Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are excellent, but lack a bit of invention.

With both clubs poised to land the ex-Monaco star, Spurs might now have the advantage – in Winks. The Evening Standard claim Leicester are one of the clubs looking to sign boyhood Spurs man Winks.

A fee of £20million is required for clubs to sign Winks. So, surely, if Tottenham offered Winks and a fee of £10million to get Tielemans – it would tempt Leicester into accepting their offer, and rejecting the Gunners? It makes sense.

So, could Winks hand Tottenham the advantage and push them ahead of Arsenal in the race for Tielemans? Without a doubt, if both clubs consider a part-exchange move and Spurs stump up a much smaller amount of cash.
