Manchester United’s squad needs a rebuild. That much is pretty clear and has been clear for a while now, after the Red Devils finished their fifth straight season without a single piece of silverware. It was something that would have been unimaginable a decade earlier, with Sir Alex Ferguson in charge, but is very much a reality of today.
Manchester United fans will be hoping that Erik ten Hag is the man to bring the glory days back to Old Trafford. His record at Ajax is fantastic but the fact also remains that he has never managed at a club of this size, in what might be the most difficult job in all of football right now.
Manchester United need to back Ten Hag in the summer transfer window if he is to have any chance of success in the hot seat. And while incomings will be important, so will be outgoings.
And as reported by the Mirror, Ten Hag is ready to let Eric Bailly go. French clubs Marseille and Lyon are showing an interest in the Ivory Coast international.
Ten Hag ready to let Manchester United star go after long run at Old Trafford
Bailly arrived at Manchester United in the summer of 2016, during the time of Jose Mourinho as manager, but has never quite managed to nail down a spot in the starting XI at Old Trafford.
Now, six years later, it seems like the time is right for the club and the player to part ways, with Bailly struggling for both form and fitness, and barely featuring for the Red Devils in recent years.
Once upon a time, it was believed that Bailly was going to become one of the best defenders in the world. But by now, it is pretty clear that he won’t be reaching that level at Manchester United, with chances limited and others ahead of him in the pecking order.
