Liverpool are interested in signing Villarreal attacker Arnaut Danjuma from the Spanish side having watched him closely, according to Football Insider.
Danjuma only moved to La Liga from Bournemouth for just over £21m in the summer, with Liverpool having been keeping tabs on him during his time in the Championship.
The 24-year-old Dutchman scored 15 times and assisted seven in 33 league games last season, while since moving to Spain, he has two in five in La Liga and a goal and an assist in two Champions League fixtures.
The goals, it appears, are translating to the top flight, but given Villarreal spent a fairly significant fee on him only very recently, trying to convince them to sell for a reasonable price so quickly might prove difficult.
Liverpool stars unhappy with FIFA ratings
FIFA 22 is out and Liverpool’s players are not particularly pleased with how they have been rated.
Andy Robertson and Virgil van Dijk were filmed handing out VIP copies of the game to their teammates on Friday, but were the bearers of bad news for many.
Mohamed Salah is down by one rating to 89 (“I scored more goals last season than the season before!” was his response), while Curtis Jones was shocked to find he was only rated at 73.
Joe Gomez (rated at 82) was unhappy, too, stating: “It’s a shambles…it’s a shambles, I don’t want it!”
Joël Matip was another one to be left unimpressed, though Virgil van Dijk was quick to make a joke about the Cameroonian’s dribbling rating.
“68 dribbling? Are you kidding EA Sports?” Van Dijk said. “I’m starting a petition to have Joël with 85 dribbling at least!”
Bissouma interest ‘remains’
Yves Bissouma is supposedly ‘still’ a transfer option for both Liverpool and Manchester United, despite the Reds having never been in for him during the summer.
The Brighton man is desperate for a move to a Champions League club and has obvious qualities that could appeal to Jürgen Klopp, but having banked £50m for Ben White, the Seagulls are in no need of the money.
Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles outlined that Liverpool ‘remain keen’ on the player because of his ‘statistic profile’, but whether the Reds make a move remains to be seen.
Bissouma would not come cheap and there are better value options out there.
Preston confirm Liverpool talks
Preston have confirmed that Sepp van den Berg hopes to be eligible to play against his parent club Liverpool in the Carabao Cup tie between the sides later this month.https://get-latest.convrse.media/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.liverpool.com%2Fliverpool-fc-news%2Ffeatures%2Fliverpool-transfer-talks-forward-championship-21742802&cre=center&cip=39&view=web
The Lancashire side say they have contacted the Reds and are awaiting confirmation of a decision one way or the other.
Asked about his reaction to the draw, Van den Berg said: “I had mixed feelings. To be fair I was just happy to play a big team in the next round but then again I know it’s Liverpool so it’s still my club.
“I already knew beforehand if it was Liverpool I might have trouble playing-wise, but just seeing everyone’s reaction in the club and the fans, you can see it’s a very big game for everyone here so it’s a great opponent to play.”
Klopp a wanted man
Laughable reports in Spain suggest that Barcelona are lining up Liverpool boss Klopp as a replacement for under-fire manager Ronald Koeman.
According to El Nacional, Klopp is on Barcelona’s list of potential candidates, alongside River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo, Xavi Hernandez, Roberto Martinez and Andrea Pirlo.
Koeman has not been sacked yet and players including Frenkie de Jong were quick to support him after the defeat to Benfica in the Champions League midweek, but it feels like a matter of time before the former Everton boss departs.
One thing is for certain, though: Klopp won’t be his replacement.
