Glastonbury 2022: Johnny Depp rumoured to make surprise appearance at festival

Johnny Depp is the latest name to have been mentioned when it comes to those faces that could turn up unannounced at Glastonbury Festival this week.

As always with Glasto, rumours of surprise appearances have been swarming the line-up ever since its first release – and rightly so! Over the past 50 years the festival has seen some of the planet’s biggest stars arrive unannounced.

From Lady Gaga popping up at the smaller Shangri-La stage to the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet on the Pyramid Stage with the High Priestess of Punk, Patti Smith – Glastonbury has seen it all.

But as a certain Johnny Depp prepares to release a brand new album with the legendary Jeff Beck, many are asking whether the Pirates of the Caribbean star could be making an unannounced appearance.

His and Beck’s latest single ‘Venus In Furs’, was released last week – and the star has been the name on everybody’s lips recently following his defamation trial against Amber Heard.

Whilst Jeff Beck himself comes to the end of his UK tour – in which Depp accompanied him – there is a possibility either or even both of the duo could show up. However, Beck himself may find this rather tricky as his European leg of his tour starts on Friday, June 24.

Depp is no stranger to the festival, having rocked up to the Cinemageddon area in 2017. Whilst the music kicks off on Friday, revellers were given an early treat on the Thursday night when he made an appearance at Worthy Farm, as he arrived for a showing of his film The Libertine.

And he fitted right in fashion-wise, rocking his trademark mish-mash style as he greeted the public.

Could a similar appearance be in-store this time around? Perhaps a performance? Who knows.
