Max Holloway suffered a gruesome eyebrow cut during his UFC defeat at the hands of Alexander Volkanovski.
Volkanovski scored a unanimous 50-45 decision from all three judges which means he did not drop a single round against Holloway.
In the second round of the fight, Volkanovski caught Holloway with a right hook that completely split his eyebrow open and he had to fight for another 20 minutes with the deep wound that will certainly become a notable scar.
Volkanovski made the Hawaiian miss over 60 percent of his punches and that reflects how his defence was the foundation for his impressive display.
Many claimed that Volkanovski had actually lost their previous fight in the summer of 2020 and he was determined to prove them wrong by dominating Holloway in the final fight of their trilogy.
He did just that and secured a perfect 3-0 victory and after the final horn, he roared: “What now?” at the watching fans.
He showed that he wants to achieve even more as soon as possible after the fight.
“I want to be busy. I want to move up and go for double champ and I’ll keep two divisions busy,” he said.
“Charles [Oliveira], whoever gets that belt, no disrespect, I’d love to move up, get that double champ status.”
