Actor Johnny Depp has donated the proceeds from his NFTs sales to aid charities in need.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star, who recently won a defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard, performed this stroke of goodwill, which has garnered the actor praise for his compassion and humility.
According to Page Six, Depp had stated earlier this year that he intended to sell thousands of NFTs based on his paintings of friends and personal heroes. The purchases were made through www.neverfeartruth.com, with secondary sales done by other multi-chain NFT marketplaces.
The list of charities that received the proceeds was made public in the tweet that broke the news. It included several children’s hospitals at the forefront of research for childhood health and involved in giving treatments to the less privileged.
Johnny Depp Donated Nearly $800,000
News of the donation broke on Twitter on July 6, confirming that the actor kept his promise to give away the proceeds from the sales of his NFTs. As per the tweet posted by the NFT community for art & creativity by Johnny Depp’s page, nearly $800,000 was donated to four hospitals.
The announcement read,” “Johnny Depp’s Never Fear Truth NFT sale was always intended to benefit charities, and we are pleased to be able to confirm that nearly $800,000 in total donations have been contributed to the following organizations.”

Johnny Depp’s Never Fear Truth NFT sale was always intended to benefit charities and we are pleased to be able to confirm that nearly $800,000 in total donations have been contributed to the following organizations:
The names of the hospital that received the charities include “Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, The Footprint Coalition, and The Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles,” with the latter associated with the actors ex-wife Heard.
Another tweet from the page read, “We are grateful and very thankful to the Never Fear Truth community for this tremendous accomplishment – making this project one of the most philanthropic NFT sales to date – and we are excited to build on this success and make an even greater impact going forward.”
Fans Showed Their Gratitude To The Star
Following the donation announcement, some of the recipients took to Twitter to thank the actor for his generous act.
“Thank you so much @JohnnyDeppNFT for your generosity in helping support [Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation] and WA sick kids,” Perth Children’s Hospital Foundation tweeted. “These funds will make a significant impact in helping keep [Perth Children’s Hospital] world-class for our children and families.”
Fans also praised the actor for redeeming his promise and used the opportunity to pass snide remarks about his ex-wife for allegedly not following through with her pledge to donate part of her divorce proceeds to The Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
“And this, ladies and gentlemen, is philanthropy. And the difference between an unfulfilled pledge, and a straight donation,” one fan wrote.
“No wondering about pledge or donation synonymously or not here. Every time I think I couldn’t be prouder of that man, he proves me wrong. AMAZING,” another Depp loyalist wrote tweeted.

The NFT marked the first time the public had seen his paintings, as he had kept his artworks private up until the recent sales. Depp himself, Marlon Brando, Elizabeth Taylor, Hunter S. Thompson, Heath Ledger, daughter Lily-Rose Depp, Tim Burton, Depp’s late dog Mooh, and a cartoon character, Bunnyman, created by his son are among those featured in the portraits.
As per Page six, “Depp’s style is a mix of pop and street art, with images of pop-culture figures rendered in vibrant colors.” All the NFTs were based on the actor’s original artwork, which was then digitally enhanced into its virtual format.
Those who purchased the “Never Fear Truth” NFT gained membership to Depp’s Discord group, allowing fans to work on art projects jointly. Each purchase also included a high-resolution physical copy, which can only be claimed once.
Johnny Depp’s Lawsuit Against Amber Heard
Prior to the donations, Depp was mired in a long-running defamation suit against Heard, in which the actor sought restitution after his ex-wife authored an op-ed piece that purportedly slandered his reputation.
Throughout the case, the actor and his ex Heard, were both subjected to various humiliating circumstances, including jurors seeing images of Depp hungover from drinking and drug binge episodes. Also, hearing about his and Heard’s regular confrontations during their marriage.
As reported by The Blast, The jury ultimately decided that Heard should pay Depp $10.35 million in damages. She was also granted $2 million in restitution for one of her slander claims against the actor. With the lawsuit behind him, the actor aims to relaunch his acting career and will return to the big screen as King Louis XV in Netflix’s French historical film “Jeanne Du Barry.”
