‘Perfect’ striker Tottenham Hotspur want to sign turns down Arsenal

Reported Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Lautaro Martinez has turned down Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, according to The Times.

The Times have reported that Inter Milan striker Martinez has rejected the chance to move to Arsenal because of the Gunners’ failure to reach the Champions League.

Arsenal finished fifth in the Premier League table this season.

The Gunners’ bitter North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, ended up fourth, and interestingly, Antonio Conte’s side have also been linked with the 24-year-old.

Il Bianconero reported in April that Tottenham head coach Conte wants to sign Inter striker Martinez and prefers him to Paulo Dybala, who is leaving Juventus this summer.

Conte and Martinez worked together at Inter and won the Serie A title in 2020-21.

In our opinion, Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez rejecting Arsenal this summer is a boost to Tottenham Hotspur’s chances of signing the Argentina international striker.

Inter will play in the Champions League next season and are also back to being a force to be reckoned with in Italy now.

Tottenham have a new £150 million investment coming in, and the future looks very bright and prosperous for the North London club.

A move to Spurs could appeal to Martinez, especially with Conte at the helm.

Described as “perfect” by former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves on BT Sport 1 (2:27pm, December 13, 2021), Martinez scored 21 goals and gave three assists in Serie A this season, and scored 17 goals and provided six assists in the league in 2020-21.
