PSG Offered The Chance To Sign Arsenal Forward In Cut Price deal

Arsenal are set to part ways with record signing Nicolas Pépé this summer after a dismal three seasons together. The Ivorian arrived in north London off the back of a strong campaign in France with Lille, but he has never truly settled in England, and it would appear a return to France could be on the cards for the Ivorian.

Foot Mercato report today Ligue 1 champions PSG have been offered the chance to sign Pépé and bring him back to the French topflight. With PSG’s new sporting director Luis Campos holding a prior working relationship with Pepe from their time together at Lille, a reunion could indeed be on the cards.

It’s a move which would make sense for the Parc de Princes side. Angel Di Maria, also a left-footed right-sided winger is set to leave the French capital this summer, so Pepe would be something of a like for like replacement. Returning to a league where he was once so successful would also be attractive for Pepe.

The Ivorian is actively looking to leave Arsenal this Summer. He’s recently appointed a new agent to handle his future and if he were able to engineer a move to PSG for his new client Pepe would doubtlessly be pleased. The opportunity to line up alongside the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Neymar would be incredibly difficult to turn down for a man who has endured a very difficult few years in England.

As for Arsenal, they’ll be interested in seeing what sort of deal they can pull off. They’ll inevitably take a significant hit on the £72 million they spent on Pepe but offloading his wages would certainly benefit the Gunners. Regarding a replacement, it would appear young Brazillian winger Marquinhos will be taking Pépé’s place as Bukayo Saka’s understudy next season. Serge Gnabry is also on the club’s radar.
