UFC legend Chael Sonnen suggests Nate Diaz fight Tony Ferguson

After making a new demand to finish his contract, former UFC legend Chael Sonnen has advised Nate Diaz to face “perfect” opponent Tony Ferguson in his final bout in the UFC.

The American star hasn’t fought since losing to Leon Edwards last year, and his contract with the company only has one fight left on it.

“Now, if Tony was to go to a 170 pounds and I have a magic wand, what do I do with him? Boom. Nate Diaz. Solve the problem right away. That would be a very big and perfect fight,” Sonnen said on Beyond the Fight.

Diaz first sought to be freed from his contract to force his departure from the UFC, but he has now changed his mind and demanded that an opponent be found for his final fight.

“That would be an interesting fight. That would be a nostalgic fight. Like, that would serve all the boxes for what we wanted to see as fans. And if you like Nate Diaz, and I know that you do, then you have to like Tony Ferguson. But if you like Tony Ferguson, and I know you do, you have to like Nate Diaz. They’re the same guy,” he added.

Ferguson has already lost four consecutive fights, but he is planning a comeback whenever he is cleared to compete in the cage following a medical ban.
