Arsenal have been heavily linked with Gabriel Jesus in recent months.
The Gunners need to bolster their attacking ranks this summer and the Manchester City star is apparently a key target.
Arsenal look set to lose Alexandre Lacazette on a free transfer at the end of the month.
The Gunners also failed to bring in a replacement for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who left in January.
While Eddie Nketiah looks set to pen a new Arsenal deal, Mikel Arteta will need more than just one senior striker.
Meanwhile, Jesus has once again been superb for City, helping them with the Premier League title.
However, it looks as though he could slip down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola.
The Citizens have deals in place for Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.
Therefore, it’s not surprising to hear Jesus is apparently thinking of leaving the Etihad.
“In pole position”
Now, Brazilian journalist Rodrigo Oliveira has told Calciomercato.it that Arsenal are closing in on the 25-year-old.
Indeed, he claims the Gunners are in pole position and ‘ready to make a great offer’ for the highly sought-after forward.
“Many top clubs are on Gabriel Jesus, but the one in pole position is Arsenal,” Oliveira said, via Sport Witness.
“The player wants to leave Manchester City.
“Jesus is very close to signing with the Gunners. He is very suited to English football and wants to stay in England.
“Arsenal want to make a good offer. So Arsenal will probably take on Gabriel Jesus, who lost space with Brazil in the recent months.
“Many players have overtaken him in the hierarchy [national team], which is why he wants to stay in England.
At the same time, Arsenal are ready to make a great offer. Perhaps even for €50-60m, and (they) are in pole position.”
